Red Barons take on Shanghai Knights for B Division Crown March 28th

2010-03-15

The Shanghai Knights held the Jackalopes to only 4 shots in the frist 27 minutes of the game en route to a 3-1 win last night. Meanwhile, the Red Barons trailing 4-2 early 3rd period to the Short Fuse, scored 4 straight goals to reach the title game Sunday March 28th at 6:30 pm

Shanghai Knights forward Ken Shimizu scored 2 first period goals while the team defense shut down the Jackalopes, holding them without a shot for the first 12:02 of the 2nd period.  Jackalopes Goalie Ken Underwood turned away 27 of 30 shots, but his best efforts were thwarted by the smothering defense of the Shanghai Knight defensemen, led by Vince Gullotta and Glenn Filson.
The Knights will face off against the #1 seed Red Barons  Sunday, March 28th in San Mateo at 6:30 pm. The Red Barons faced off against long time rival the Short Fuse. The Fuse have had the better of the rivalry in recent years, but the Red Barons have become equals again under the tutelege of Captain Dan Crawford, veteran Hockey North America player. Trailing 4-2 with 11:42 to go in the game, Idan Beck scored two goals to lift the Red Barons over the tiring Short Fuse defense.
